Beauties av8soulfly!

Thanks GoldeneyRet
Hopefully some more pics will show up soon.

I have done a bit of work with butterflies in the past. Everything from compatibility with others, pairing, and keeping tougher known species. They are a great fish and very rewarding when you do have a pair eat and show signs of mating in captivity. Lets get them pics rolling!

Nice Burgess. Mine has since gone to the reef in the sky. :( I also lost my Melonotus. The others are doing great and eating like piggies.

Im sorry to hear that. What other species do you have ?

Update photo of my burgess.

:( Sorry to hear that. They’re a bit hard to come by where I am but I’d love to try one someday. What happened to yours? How long did you have it for?

And what happened to your Black Back? :( (Mellanotonus)

Both are beautiful fish.

The Burgess got punked by the chevron tang, gouged his eye with the tail blade I'm guessing. Had it for 2 months.
The melanotus croaked from fluke worms. Had it for 6 months.
But all is stable now, and I've learned a lot about keeping these fish.
RACCOON
SINGULARUS BANNER (looks a lot like a heniochus)
AURIGA thread fin
SADDLEBACK
LONGNOSE
FALCULA
I still have the chevron tang, raised him from the size of a quarter.

It's tough adding new flies to the existing tank. They have to be good sized and eating like there's no tomorrow. I hope to be upgrading my 100 gallon tank within the next year. This tank is about 27 years old and I know the silicon won't last forever. I am hoping to double its size and go rimless to match all my other tanks.

True beauties JMM
Do you know the species name of the second pic?

That’s my Hifin, it’s my answer to a copperband. Got it from live aquaria as a pup, size of a half dollar and got it thru qt.
I have a Klein’s and Bannerfish in the same herd. Bannerfish is quickly outgrowing the tank(180) and is already promised to a much bigger tank elsewhere.
I eagerly await the last 3 to be added, a sunset, yellowhead and the black Vagabond. Also in the market for a bigger tank.

wow a lot of beautifull fish.

But I have a question for all the butterfly fish lover.

Ive heard they are pretty hard to take car of and they live normally only 6 months in a thank is it true ? any of you have a butterfly for like 2 years or more ?
