Rock crab. After 2 months of watching this dude weave in and out of my live rock I finally snatch him with a piece of krill and some forceps.

Good catch ! I don't trust crabs at all ! Whatcha going to do with him? How bad has it been? I have been so ticked at a hairy crab I smashed it & fed to the denizens he was terrorizing !

Keep it in the sump?

Yeah.... I'm wondering about that myself.

I fished a few of these guys out of the rocks at my beach and put them in the live rock chamber of my sump. I've had absolutely no problem. I will say that they adapt rather easily. The only thing is that they have learned to move from chamber to chamber within the sump by crawling up the corner using the softness of the silicone. For the most part, they stay within the live rock chamber. But occasionally, they move into the chamber with the protein skimmer and then to the refugium.

They are great predators of bristle worms too. I will do the occasional rock flip and grab any bristle worms I see. Then I dump them into the chamber with the protein skimmer where the rock crabs come right out and eat!

I did try to put them in the display as a means of culling the heard of developing bristle worms under control. They never attacked anything; left all of my corals alone. It was a peaceful coexistence. I pulled them out because they would make a mess flipping things, looking for worms.

What are ya gonna do with it? I recommend the sump!

That's happened. I put a screen over the return pump intake right AFTER I found him. Lesson learned. LOL

Oh... and the little guy was fine.

Throwing him in with the predator tank. He should be a nice meal for the puffer ;)

Good sump crab or food, better bait for a Togzilla
