Got my first batch of LIFE Rock

Just upgraded tanks, and you can see my liferocks shapes in the middle

I used life rocks on my setup and they have, so far, worked great. I cycled the aquarium as usual with a prawn. It went through the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate spikes as it should. I like that this rock can have frag plugs just placed in some of the holes. My goby also likes the network of holes in the rock.

Thanks Nburg - not a new skimmer and it just over flows and overflows. I wanted to get the skimmer operating correctly before I began to add fish.

I had the same problem with my skimmer. I soaked the rock in freshwater for a couple months and it took care of the problem. I’m convinced the coating they put on is the cause of the problem.

Not sure if your still around but is that the Red Sea 525? I’m upgrading to either the 525 or 625. Do you like the Red Sea? Is it big enough and what light do you have over it.

I had this same issue but you don’t need a slimmer on a new tank for a couple months anyway

Not sure if your still around but is that the Red Sea 525? I’m upgrading to either the 525 or 625. Do you like the Red Sea? Is it big enough and what light do you have over it.

Yep still going and still love my redsea 450 (like the 525 xl, just not as wide front to back, but still 5' in length) i have a 60" 4 bulb ati hybrid. I keep it mostly updated in my build thread (see sig)

Had my life rock for around 2 years. tank is about 8 month:

I just put 20lbs of life rock in my system and no effect on my skimmer (60 gallon system)
