i recently moved my lights up higher due to a larger canopy I built. So I bought a light meter to see what my strengths are. Can somebody tell me what exactly I'm doing with it and what readings or ranges I'm supposed to be in from top of tank to bottom. There is everything from sps, lps, softies, ect. I have a 72 gal bowfront.

And I can put the sensor in the water yes? Cause I didn't say it "is or isnt " water proof

I don't think it's waterproof. You can only measure at the surface of the water.

Can I measure outside of water at different levels? Would that give me a idea of the par inside? Same placement, just outside water
