Well, I am having a bout with brown stuff on my sandbed and some on rocks. I debated (hoped for diatoms) but with a 1 year old system/RODI with 0 TDS...I didn't think they were. Then I thought spirulina, but brown...so I bought chemiclean, but then before treating my tank I was thinking dino's after reading twillard's mega dino thread.

Since I am obviously not doing well macro algae/bacteria, I went ahead and bought an inexpensive microscope.

Here are my first images...what do y'all think I'm dealing with?

The larger oval shaped look like dinoflagellates. Do they move?

No...they don't seem move under their own power...I'll take some more samples tonite to make sure...thx!

Then no. Unless dead of course. There diatoms in the sample so probably all good.

Dinos will wreck your tank with a snotty mess.
