Hello all,
I just picked up some real ocean rock covered in CA from an importer of sorts. It’s about 10# and I paid $12/lb for it. I have it mixed in with 40 pounds of carib sea shapes and will be adding 25 lb from my current tank. Does not appear to have any pests

Do you think this will be good for my tank?

Yep, hands down the best. I have had mine for 9 months. Saw a small gorilla crab last week. Totally worth it though!

Reef rocks are basically made out of aragonite (Calcium Carbonate) and either man-made or pulled from quarries or the ocean, because it is naturally basically old, dead coral skeletons. Not only is it chemically compatible with a saltwater aquarium, but it is highly porous.

I took a girl on a date today to the market that has all the fish and corals (yeah, that's my idea of a date haha) and the shops were stocked full of live ocean rock! They had tons of it! I had to stop myself from making an impulse buy and stay strong in front of my date!

yes thats the best thing for your tank. so where did you get it from?

What was her opinion on the rock?
She looked at it the way most people would look at rocks who aren't in the hobby haha...to be fair, the rock these shops were filled to the brim with weren't as beautiful and fully covered by coralline as the shop I usually buy from though... really not sure why they were so stocked up...
