I picked up this small colony in a trade. Never spreads. Just sticks to the same tiny rock and gets thicker. Stems are elongated, maybe an inch or an inch and a half. Have tried everywhere in two tanks, but they always trumpet. Anyone have any idea what zoa these might be and what I might do to get them to stop trumpeting?

looks like pink panthers and there stretching because of how cluttered they are but healthy and well be fine the way they are

Those are the two I've gone back and forth between. I've considered fragging the rock but I'm not sure that would help them. They don't retract when you pick up the colony.

I have the same ones. Never knew the name of them. And they do the same thing. Just a ball of Zoanthids. Weird.

I had fragged one as a test a while back. It stayed trumpeted and did eventually attach to the rock. But I'm unsure if it ever spread because someone bought it rights away.
