Hi all,

So a little over a year ago i got into the alkatronic and dostronic ready for the mastronic... like everything iv given them a fare trial but honestly these products have completely decimated the hobby for me. My once good selection of acros and mixed sps are gone (only on sps has managed to hold on). I had made the move to focustronic stuff as i was preparing to start planning a couple of large systems, i would use these one my current tank before moving over to get a feel of running the. Terrible decision on my part and one iv regretted for a year now.
I dont want to go though all of my issues here as it depresses me too much.
Im looking to get rid of these products ideally for money before i get enraged enough one day to just smash them up lol. Im looking for another system to test and iv been really looking into GHL .
Are GHL likely to release a new profulx any time soon? If so ill wait, its not like iv got a tank full of beloved sps anymore...
Also any likelihood of ghl making a p04 tester? I believe they already have n03.
For the time being iv gone back to hanna checker for all these.
I guess i should have never left....

Im trying to get me dosetronic online to check a few things but yes i am going back to manually testing.

Why not start out doing it all manually until you get it under control? Sometimes automation isn't the answer.
Agree. It's always seemed to me that the automatic-alk-test-and-dosing systems add way more risk than they alleviate.

My dosing needs don't change fast enough that I need a system making adjustments over the course of a day. 3 or 4 tests a week and once a week adjustments to my dosing pumps is more than is really needed.

Yup. My tank is currently more zoas & RFAs than anything. I test once a week and add whatever I need. Although my alk is getting to the point that I may need to dose twice a week to keep in the range I allow.

I dose my alk to 9.5 dKH and at the end of a week it's down to 6.5 or 7.0 dKH. And I dose it back up to 9.5 with one single dose of swimming pool soda ash mixed to Randy Holmes-Farley's instructions.
