GoVols: Red Sea S-400

@drawman

I was also trying the below with phos, to help with nitrates

Question, Randy

If your phosphates are treading low, and you have high nitrates:

If you bring up your phosphates, do the higher phosphates help bring down your nitrates?

Thank you

You can read Randy's answer in the next post

I have read through some of this awesome thread, but not all of it, yet! (I had the same BTA conclusion as you I believe)

Since I cheated and read the first few pages and last few pages, I gotta ask one question. You started with the geo reactor and then went with the TM all in one stuff then back to reactor right? I am thinking about a geo reactor soon. Good idea? And the alkatronic is good too if I don’t have a cat? (I lied and had 2 or 3 questions)

lol

Yeah,
I would highly recommend GEO and he helped me pick out the two stage, that I run.
Shoot GEO a pm for help, if a cal reactor is in your future.

Running a Sicce .5 (same as the tunze silence) as the feed pump at 280mls per min.

Had the Alkatronic for about one year, been solid as a rock, but their WIFI connection is kinda funky, just been using the Bluetooth option.

It's baseline calibration is super nice!!

Run a high end dual stage Co2 regulator (carbondoser should do the job) with the reactor and the Alkatronic will turn it off if I'm over 9.0 dHK. It can also dose alk if your low.

There's a new firmware update for the Alka-T, but I have not taken it.
Among other things the update will show your tanks ph before it test your alk, but the small pump "B" is pretty loud to today's standards.

Today's update:

Got in the new ph probe for the Alkatronic and more spare parts are in the mail box.

Mixed up a new batch of reagent, but seems like the main jug strength has got a lot weaker over the past year. First read 11 dKH and we're at just about 9.

Plopped in the 500gph pump and kept adding more reagent. In the end it dialed in without the use of baseline calibration. Dead on Salifert and .2 higher than Hanna.

Talked to Mitch (Alkatronic Guru)
From what I got, taking a pass on the firmware update.

Blocked our cat out with a throw pillow, 1 jug of Reborn media and 1 jug of ARM fine media.

lol, We'll find something better down the line.

Tunze media seems to be doing very well and plan on staying with it, even if Reborn comes back.

So we're crossing fingers that the Alka-T stays dialed in as it always has been.

Current shot of Aaron

Hope you guys are having a nice weekend.

Happy Easter... :)

Aaron is a looker! Great pic. Happy easter Freddie.

Alkatronic News:

Last Sunday night, just sat down in the Lazy-Boy to catch a movie.

Then the Alka-T's screen went blank, right before my eyes.

Held the power supply and it sends out tiny shocks, thru one side seam.

The unit or power supply did not make any noise, with no burnt wire smell.

Contacted Coralvue and Corlos had me reach out to Jonas.
Jonas (Focustronic) responded back real fast, via there users Facebook site.

So, a new power supply is on the way.

To this point Carlos (Coralvue) has given some super customer service.

Crossings xx fingers that it did not get to the boards.

Will update as we go.

Nice catch.

Hope so Rich

either way:
I'll post some shots ;Snaphappy when the new PS comes in, so you guys can see... ;Wideyed the guts inside the unit.

Welp, Folks

As you can see, the big green acro got smoked by the bta / and so did the right side of the Setosa

Purple plate and Chilli Pepper got sung by the wall hammer and the green branching hammer scalded the left side of the Setosa

But, we'll post some more shots, anyway

Thanks, Janci

We get pictures, but have not drove out to see them since his first weekend home.

It's been awhile, is your family okay?

If you got a link, to your build thread, on the fresh water forum. feel free to post a link in here.

We'd love to track it, with you... :)

Right there...what exactly is that? Is it actually yellow? I love it!

Hi Katrina!!

I picked it up at the Aquatic Critter, some years back. It was $19 and "glowed" ;Wideyed across their coral section, so a walked back (from checkout) and took it home.

It's an orange-ish / golden colored, cyphastrea.
