GoVols: Red Sea S-400

This is the worst thread on the internet. I've never seen a tank more obviously photo-shopped in my life. It's as if you let Jimmy Haslam himself manage your tank.

I hope you severely stub your pinky toe this week.

Have you noticed anything interesting with the KZ Seawater Complex?

Rakie,
First off congrats on your 365!!

Yeah,
I have noticed something and it's linked to the KZ "Trace" Complex too.

If we're not honest on ours build's then what's the point?

Now our replacement BTA is suffering too. The rest of the reef is popping, but now, I don't feel like that the Frontline Plus killed my bta's.

I think is has something to do with the KZ trace element products with BTA's.

I have no clue if this BTA is going to make it, but I'm done with the KZ line for trace elements.

I've never once had this issue with the Red Sea colors with BTA's. I have to follow the clues and they lead me back to KZ.

After the reef rest for awhile, we may try the Tropic Marin / K and A elements. If that does not pan out, then I'll stay with the Red Sea color's program from then on.

(lol)
I've got like 180 alerts... and I'll try to get to them over the weekend.

Freddie

LOL for a while it was looking like you guys were considering taking a run at him. That would have been gold.

Poor Butch, The butch era reminds me of the Zook era in Florida. SO SO SO much talent, no results. Just look at Kamura tearing it up on Sundays and he had trouble seeing the field and almost transferred on you guys. SO glad he's gone. I really want UF/UT to mean something again outside of who finishes closer to Uk and Vandy in the standings.

Wow, thanks for sharing. I just started KZ's alternative to Red Sea RE. I don't do KZ trace, but I was concerned by BTA didn't like KZ Flatworm Stop.

My reef looks great, but my BTA split and they have moved some. I wonder if the KZ Amino Acids bugs them or whether they are settling in still.

I will stop all KZ for a bit and let things settle.

Thanks for sharing your findings...

Letting the S-400 settle down for awhile too. We'll see if this BTA pulls out of the hole... ;Nailbiting

Ordered the (small bottles) of the TM / K and A elements last night, but going to wait a couple of weeks before trying those.

(lol)
Might wind up back on the Red Sea color's after this Pepsi (trace element) challenge is over... ;Wacky

FWIW:
CaribSea / discontinued the regular "Fine" ARM media and that caught GEO off guard too...
Found ;Wideyed one canister of that media, at Aquarium Specialty, and jumped on it... :D

The above... has put GEO back to the drawing board / to find the best / second chamber's media... ;Bookworm, again.

:)

I hope you BTA makes it!!!
Thanks, Pancho

Just got home and it does look better.
Looks like the right side of the nem. was melting away.

I never tried a nem, following closely to learn!

I use the KZ Coral system 1234 which contains more or less the same as the Seawater Complex and see no negative effect on the BTA.
She split but that was most probably due to shifting tanks, transport and stress. I only strated using KZ after both BTA were settled.
Maybe this SW Complex still has something more than the Coral System 1234 bottles.

It could be a bad combination with my cal reactor's media's and the KZ trace line.

From what I can remember the Dastaco's media does not contain any trace elements.

The "small" ARM media looks like it's juiced up with strontium and that's the #1 ingredient in the KZ Seawater Complex.

My other nems. I had for years, and this one was doing just fine with the Red Sea color's.

I was also dosing the Red Sea way less often, than the KZ.

(lol)
The Red Sea color's might have been just the right combination.

Stupid tinker bug... :D

@GoVols, if you suspect Strontium might be an issue, it's an interesting excuse for an ICP test or visit Critter and have them do an Sr test.

We never test for Sr, and while extra Sr strikes me as suspect, if it's already running at 3x due to salt or the small ARM media, that might make more sense.

But if I was betting money, the ICP test and Sr test will show nothing and there is just some magic something (even a preservative) that annoys them.

Not a bad Idea to ICP. not only for Strontium, it will give you the values for all elements. you don't know but maybe you have another element causing issues.
I think ICP testing every few months is a good idea. I did it once no big issues only my Iodine is at 0. love to do it again but my local post office don't send liquids outside country. will send a sample from Dubai next time.

Well,
You and Micheal are both right on the IPC and I could pickup a Triton kit at the Aquatic Critter.

(l0l)
I'm using @najer (Simon's) unscientific method right now... :D

FWIW:
Don't want to jinx it, but the bta still seems to be getting better.

Need this bta to live, to be our (trace element) test subject... ;Wacky
