GoVols: Red Sea S-400

Well,
The sponge moved in the sump, but has replanted to a happy spot.

Aiptasia in the overflow:

Kinda going @Fudsey 's way... :p

Just bought two new round S-Series strainers from Red Sea USA (for $3 each) that screw into the back wall. They should ship out in the next 24 hours.

Going to silicone the old ones and screw them back in as water tight plugs.

Using the Python to suck the overflow... dry for three days... ;Wacky

Move the backup heater into the main display with an Sicce 500 per gallon pump and keep the Gyre 130 on.

Will run an AquaMaxx HOB-1 skimmer on the overflow wall.

Put another pump in the sump for recirc.

Taking out all unneeded pumps including recirc, skimmer, main and servicing them.

Hand dose cal and alk.

When it's over going to screw in the new Red Sea strainers, and open the flood gates back into the overflow.

(lol)
We'll call one way to do the weekly water change... ;Nailbiting

:)

I need a python or equivalent. Tired of siphoning water with a tube.

That is extreme Freddie, good luck with the war on aiptasia!

Freddie...

Get in contact with Ryan @saltyunderground.

Just took an order that @Fudsey and I are splitting. Free shipping over 75 bucks, I had 0 losses upon delivery. Constantly communicated with me. Was a pleasure dealing with him.

Hey Rich,

Ryan is a great guy and used his nudis two years ago.

I got him in my email on June 11. He's on stand by.

Good luck and I'll call him too.

Pancho,
I'm calling it off.

The new recirc strainers came in yesterday.

There are not enough screw in threads to make a water tight seal, and there is just a few big threads with gaps.

Hello Freddie, abandon ship!! LOL

Sorry the new strainers did not work but as @Nobbygas suggested just buy a new RSM S-Series and problem solved!

Thanks, Rich

@HolisticBear got some whopper sized ones from Reef Town.

I'll check back with Ryan when I'm ready.

Think I'll dump some of Algae Barns pep shrimp in the overflow.

If you can buy a water bed filler / water dumper it would be part one in making you an DIY Python.

Better to abandon ship early than to go down with the ship later!

Brew,
That was just about Angelia's exact words too.

I'll still use them to replace my old ones.

It is, what it is.

In regards to the newer red sea products in the Max line... I feel they push their Reefer series so much more and that is their design focus.
Yeah,
When Red Sea released the Reefer line I thought the S-Series line would be over.

But Kevin Davies told @SPR1968 and me that the S-Series was still strong in sales and they still make them.

To me they have a different niche per what a consumer wants, but the Reefer line sure are tops in sales.

Not sure which way I'd would have gone if the Reefers were out at the time.

I don't know how much more Red Sea could do to make the S-Series line better, in design.

How about moving the drain control valve? :D

The control valve is definitely to improve!

The Reefer Series do not have the aluminum frame the Max does but style is something each one has to choose.
