Today, I received an order from GulfCoast EcoSystem with some of the most gorgeous Red Tree Sponges that I have ever seen. I also received a grab bag of Red Gracilaria of which I am not sure what it is.

<We currently collect several different varieties of red Gracilaria from the Gulf of Mexico. These can include parvispora, tikvahiae, cervicornis as well as others. In addition to the numerous species available, Gracilaria also grows in a variety of colors. Tangs and angels like to graze on this species in general. The species we ship depends on the season and availability. Size 1 pint.>

By process of elimination, I think it is Gracilaria cervicornis

Does it look like the one on the right here? They've been giving out a lot of this stuff, I think it's Agardhiella subulata aka Agardh's Red Weed. This year is the first time I've had it, I really like it.

@acbaldwin

It looks similar. I see where you have it in the substrate. Does it develope holdfast?

I’ll ask Russ, if I can catch him when he is not diving.

I don't think this one develops holdfasts. Mine wad in the substrate to hold it in place for the pic.
