Hello fellow reefers I don't post here often but I have a question. Does anyone know how to sarasa goldfish are graded? I just bought one and what to know what grade it is. If it is a high grade I will post pictures.

Hi there! Welcome to R2R! Since this is a saltwater aquarium forum you may not get much action on this question. However there are a lot of people on here who have kept fresh water tanks and ponds as well, so somebody will be able to help you with that I'm sure.
Let's call the rest of the [HASHTAG]#reefsquad[/HASHTAG] to start with.

I could be wrong, but I believe it has to do with the color pattern on the fish. If it meets the "standard" of those certain colors, it is "graded" with that name....certain white to orange coloration, and other black or colored spots in certain locations.....there are a crap load of names (grades)....I think over 25 or so. I raised goldfish for 25+ years and could care less about this grading. My thing was whether or not I liked the color pattern, and if I did, I got that fish, regardless of the grading.

It compairs to all those "designer" clownfish they now have....and again, if I like the coloration, I'm happy, regardless of some fancy name. By the way, I'll stick with a regular old clownfish....don't care for the designers at all.

@reefwiser , thanks for posting that....was never aware of these point systems....albeit, appears to be rather subjective. I apologize, my post above had to do with koi, were they have "named" varieties dependent on their coloration. The ones I know about all have Japanese names.
