Once a coral becomes grafted with two colors, like a monti with both green and red, if you cut a piece and it is only red, will the green come out eventually? Are both colors in its DNA to where it will show? Or do both colors have to be evident in the piece for it to produce both colors?

I haven't yet fragged any grafted coral, but based off of growth patterns, it seems at least for some coral species(montipora) you'd need some of both colors for the graft to transfer to the frag. Seems monti grafts always grow their colors straight out like a pinwheel. On the other hand, it seems setosa grafts have a more mixed coloration in the growth areas, so they may be different. Again, I have yet to try, so can't be sure.

I would think that you would need to have both colors on the same frag.Honestly I can't speak from experience though.Following along...
