Has anyone tried to graft coral to make something unique? Give me some advice and tell me about your experience.

I tried grafting a tangerine monti and a green monti. No luck. I'll eventually try again though. Dapple (Darren) has a grafted pink and green birdsnest. The corals have to be VERY similar, in other words, both monti caps for example. You can't graft a monti cap and an acro.

The problem with grafting any coral is that even if it does work, you don't wind up with a new "species", you just have the one grafted coral generally. With palys/zoas, you may have 1 or 2 offspring, but eventually (and quickly) the new polyps will revert back to their original morphs. Do a little research on the World Wide Corals grafted monti that was in one of SeaWorld's tanks that appeared to have "naturally" grafted. As it turns out, it was a pigmentation problem with the coral. Pretty good read.
