Just saw a big box of ice melter at grainger. Incredients were sodium chloride and calcium magnesium acetate.

anyone heard of calcium magnesium acetate for the diy 2 part?

The question seems that how much would it raise calcium in relation to magnesium. It sounds pretty much non toxic though. I would add it to some water and test the calcium and mag and see where the mag is when u get the calcium where u want it.

I'd stick with MgCl and Epson salt mixture. Adding calcium along with magnesium does not sound bad, but may not be easy to strike a good balance.

Chances are you would still have to dose either mag or cal anyhow so u might as well stay with what works.

get prestone HEAT. or anything with OUT a mag base in it. dosing together will just cause issues with chasing numbers

thanks all esp tomoko

reviewing your link it stated there is a 3:7 molar calcium to mag ratio.

so if it does work it would seem it might replace the mag dosing but still require calcium dosing.
