Hey everyone
So i had my grandis palythoa for over 3 month . I started with one palyp and now i have 6 . This past 3 days they been closed for some reason and i dont know why . I feed them once or twice a week. Is this normal for them to do this ? They are under one 250w MH far right corner and they been there since day one they got in my tank . Everything else in the tank is doing great. Its a mixed reef with alot LPs one Acro for now . I only dose kalkwasser with auto top of and its keeping my parameters very stable .

mag 1440 its been the same for 2 months and i dont know how to bring it down.
Nitrates 0.03
phosphate 0.0
temp 77-78

That is completely normal. They will open up in a couple days. Mine do it all the time.
 
Cinnamon rolls num num num! These are one of my favorite polyps but only because I eat cinnamon rolls twice a week lol! Totally normal behavior! They might just be trying to grow even more.
 
Protopalythoa grandis has a habit of closing up for several days, during which time it secretes a waxy film that is subsequently shed. This is a normal process that is also seen in Palythoa spp., other (but not all!)Protopalythoa spp., as well as in leather corals such as Sarcophyton and Lobophytum, gorgonians such as Pterogorgia, and the stony coral Porites. Shedding this waxy film is a means of preventing the growth of algae or other organisms on the surfaces of the polyps. Mine did this and now they are fine. I was worried too.
