I have had grape caulerpa that I thought I was rid of, but it came back. I must have missed some a while back.

But it grew, and grew, and grew. Almost to the point it was starting to overflow what few corals I have in the tank.

Then it died.

I thought, crap it went sexual and released all the nitrates back into the tank. But no. It died. Everything white, even the stalks. Completely fell apart. No sign of anything left of it.

I’m sure it did release all the nitrates and crap back into the tank and I am working on clearing that up, but I don’t get why it died.

Tagged. I would be curious about people thoughts on this, as well.

Was it out competed by anything (chato)? grape caulerpa also likes lots of light and nutrients so if your light changed or you actually did hit 0 phos or nitrates it could die off.
