I recently when to my LFS to buy some macro algae. After looking it up i realized that the sold me grape caulerpa. I was wanting something that would help lower nitrates. After reading about the caulerpa people have been having bad experiences with it. Does anyone have any experience with this stuff? Does it lower nitrates?

Keep it in your sump, and not the main tank.
If you see any in your main tank, remove it right away.
Keep it well trimmed back.

I keep in in my sump it works pretty well. Just don't let it go sexual and try to keep light on it 24/7. I've had mine now for about 3 years and no problems

Been reading tht the grape will get entangled in the rocks and kill off the rock. Anyone have any thoughts on cheatomorpha?

I use caulerpa in my fuge, but prefer the Mexican caulerpa. When I trim it back, I put it in my main tank where the tangs eat it up.

I have a 30g tank, too small for tangs :( but i think im going to take it out and go with the cheato.
