Gravel vacuum ok for sandbed?

I have a 38 gallon reef tank and I'm wondering if I should siphon my sandbed. I have a 1 inch sandbed. I have a little bit of cyano so It should help.

If this is the very first time you might think of vacuuming the SB in sections if the tank has been set up for awhile.

I used to vacuuming my 1 inch sand bed all the time without incidence. It's those older deep sand beds you want to be wary of.

It's about a year old. Haven't touched the sandbed much

Yeah that is why I do a section at a time to see, I doubt anything will happen other than perhaps an elevation in nitrates. I tend to be over cautious when it's someone else tank, but I personally have never had a bad outcome vacuuming such a small sandbed. You're going to get mud initially.

Ok great! I'll do it tomorrow. I will only do the front side of the tank.
