Gravity fed Auto top off reservoirs

Hey,

Call me old school but I prefer gravity fed ato units.

Does anyone know of any reservoirs/containers that are designed for gravity. The only one I have come across is the eshopps unit but I’m wondering if there are any other options out there.

I have the eshopps on my display tank and on my frag tank I use a 5 gallon bucket and a float valve works great and only cost me 20 bucks to put together .I am considering the neptune ATK for the display tank because I use Kalk in the ATO water and I worry about overdosing the tank.

I currently use a 7 gallon water storage container from Walmart that’s rigged to a eshopps float. I just want something that looks better that I can fit under my stand

What’s the best way to do an ATO, via float or controller? I’ve never had hands on with either so not quite sure pros and cons of them

I’ve never made one from a bucket but to do so you would need to drill a hole somewhere the bottom on bucket.

In this hole you would need to put a fitting to run a water line to your sump.

Inside your sump you would put a float valve to maintain a steady water level. I use a eshopps float valve.
