So I am cheap and don't feel like paying to use more electricity for a pump or get a bigger one so I figured I'd draw up a possible plan to gravity feed my reactor. So hear is my design please comment and lend any helpful advise or links to where I could see plumbing designs similar to mine.

I don't think that will work out to well. I believe once the water is in the canister the rest of the water will just flow over it. If you can make it so the water goes in at the top then drains out the bottom it would be better. Also, you want dirty water entering the refugium. You want the algae in the refugium to absorb the phosphates. You can connect that set up to the return side however for a better result.

Honestly the flow through gravity is so slow it makes the concept pretty much pointless, trust me iv tried! Your better off using media bags for the media and throwing them in your sump if you refuse to use a pump for media reactors.
