My Gold rim tang has recently shown darkish gray spots on his body. The bumps are like grains and I have found no disease of ich that looks like this. I am wondering of I would treat the fish in QT and how I would treat the main tank.(I have ruled out copper because In have live rock and I might get some corals) If someone could help me with all this or give further advice that would be great. The pictures are down below, so if anyone knows what it is, please get back to me!

What’s his diet like? Feeding any greens?

He looks fat but his colors off as you stated but I don’t think he’s getting enough nutrition from his diet and it’s causing him to lose color. I would look in to a frozen food like LRS that contain actual seafood meat and definitely buy an algae clip and start feeding nori every day.

He isn't really losing his color though, he is developing dark gray pinpricks on his body, and that is what I don't know. I am feeding him properly, the food has many nutritional items. Just don't know if the gray spots are a type of ich or fungus. @Wieloch89

Stressed. And the White Cheek Tangs comes in a variety of colors some are purple ish some are Black.
I'd leave a Seaweed strip im there daily.
It'll up it immune system and his color will get better.

The discoloration from rubbing or stress it comes and goes.
Once on a stable diet with consistency it color will improve.
Lighting also changes their color along with if it angry or not. Mine turns really dark if he ticked at me for feeding the corals and not 100% him.
Lol, Tangs get jelly easy lol

That is not the proper color for a gold rim tang... he’s very dull. It’s up to you but I would change his diet and at the very least offer nori. Tangs spend most of their day grazing on algae. The patches can just be from stress or HLLE from poor nutrition.

Thanks, any treatment that I should give the tang besides that? Maybe QT him/her just to keep a close eye and make sure nothing bad happens

I would just start by adjusting the diet and see how the Fish responds. When they’re stressed like that it’s best that they don’t love tanks unless they absolutely have to. If that didn’t do it, I would move it to a quarantine with copper and an air stone. Good luck!
