I am getting ready to setup a new tank and was wondering if anyone had some good quick ways to get a tank to cycle? Im not worried about how easy or hard the process would be but the faster the better in my situation! Thanks

ik i will get lots of greif for this but i always cycle my tank with a ocs. clown fish and havent lost one to date yet(knock on wood :))

cause's the cycle to start right away, and plus give u something to look at lol

When I first set up my tank, I used fully cured live rock and live sand, added a pouch of Bio-Spira and never had a cycle.

it works, but idk about putting a dead shrimp in my tank lol im kinda on the fence i dont think i would ever do it

I can tell you that BIO SPIRA works in a matter of a day or two the cycle is totally complete. It is pricy though.

Not trying to give you grief Phil but there other ways as you know to cycle a tank other than fish...

The fish go through extreme pain and burning in their gills when use to cycle a tank.

If you can buy all your live rock cured then that is the quickest and easiest way IMO. Other ways is to use the raw shrimp method. This is one of those things in the hobby that you really can't get around. You can make it quicker but not much.

Take your time and you'll be glad you did.

i actually didnt know that it caused them pain, i jsut figured since they all lived it was okay, thanks for correctin me rev!

i guess just buy some already cured live rock, even a small amount will do it

sounds good i would just test every couple of days and see how things are going
