Thank you all for the worm welcome.

This is a great hobby, I really love it.

Does anyone have a preference for acrylic tanks Sea Clear or Clear for life? I did have a great conversation with Glass Cages they are an option as well.

I'm deciding on acrylic because they do not require any repair work and the fish and coral look like its in high definition.

Can anyone tell me if there is a big deference between 20" and 24" height?

I know the 20" is easier to clean but how much?

Welcome to your new home for saltwater reef aquarium resources and fun! Welcome to the family! :D

I have a 75 and would be around 20 inches, I have a 90 that is around 24 inches. World of different. You wouldn't think 4 inches was much but, it's huge. Well worth the extra cleaning

Greetings Charles!!! And welcome to reef2reef. So there’s this little devil on my shoulder saying, “just welcome him”. And then there’s this little angel on the other shoulder saying “Glass is the way to go! Tell him! Tell him, I say!” Again welcome. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Welcome! I am a fan of glass. I liked and had acrylic years ago, but I was not careful enough and ended up with too many scratches. I have scratched glass, too, but it didn't show like the acrylic did.

Hello Charles! I won't be much help with your question, but I wanted to welcome you to our reefing community!

Hi,

I’m a glass guy, but I admittedly have not tried an acrylic tank. As to 4”, I can see the benefit of added height for designing your structure but I can also see how this would complicate cleaning and maintenance. I expect I would stay at 20”.

When I re-up into this hobby, I'll be going through Glass Cages. I, myself, was impressed with my conversation. In terms of height, I've worked with 21 and 24. I liked 24 as it gives more vertical real-estate for Corals. No cleaning issues with either height for me.

So Greetings and Welcome to our collective obsession!!!!
