All of my rock is now green from algae. Amd im starting to get a diatom bloom. Any ideas in what I should change everything looks good. Its a 90 gallon with a sump protein skimmer miracle mud gfo and carbon reactor. And a UV sterolizer. And a good size clean up crew.

some pics would be a great help. live stock count & parameter readings info? how long has the tank been running? what lighting your running & how old are the lamps?

Start with checking your parameters..

Nitrates, phosphates, silicates.

For GFO I would use Rowaphos!! Stuff works real good.

Also, if your tank is fairly new and in the cycle process then it is normal to have diatoms, green algae on the rocks.

I have 5 t5 bulbs one rabbit face, lawnmower Benny and one clown fish. Ill check the parameters again in the morning. Also should I raise my salinity its at 1.023 I was thinking of slowly going to 1.026. And three small corals.

How old is the tank if you don't mind me asking? You can raise your salinity if you choose to and I think it is a good idea. I keep mine in the range of 1.025-1.026 but your salinity isn't contributing to your algae problem. My guess is that your tank is fairly new and is experiencing an algae bloom which is normal. Also, how long you leaving your lights on each day?

Its 3 months old and its on for less than 8 hours. I understand its because its new but its like the rocks were painted green

Yeah if you could get your parameters checked like some of the other members mentioned that would be awesome. If you don't have the test kits available I know you could probably get some decent test kits depending if your LFS carries them, just avoid the API one cause it isn't that great. Salifert or Red Sea would be fine though. Another option, go to your LFS and see if they will test it for you. Mine will test my parameters at anytime for free. But in the meantime doesn't seem like your lights aren't on too crazy long at all. Might be a dumb question and I'm not trying to insult you in anyway, shape, or form but are you using RO/DI water to mix your salt and for top offs?

Ah ok perfect! Sorry I just had to make sure, yeah work on those params though and that will give us a little better idea. Algae can be a struggle and as of lately have just figured out what was causing it but hang in there.

Ok so everything that should be zero is. Doh is 9.2. But my ca and mg are very low could this be the cause and if so what should I dose?
