Went to bed last night and all was good with our tank. Woke up and now we had a bloom of green algae. What would cause something like this and what can be done to remedy it? We have a Red Sea light set to run at 70% White and 70% Blue for 8 hours, moon for 4 hours at 15-10%. We went off what advice was given at our aquarium store but aren’t sure if that is what it should be set at. I’m also still figuring out how much to feed our fish without over feeding, so could this have come from over feeding? Any advice or suggestions would be great!

I would turn down the whites.
Check N/P.

Can you tell us more about your tank, particularly your water chemistry numbers? It is likely that there is a higher than normal level of nutrients in the tank.

Additionally, do you run a sump or hang on back filtration system?
