Green Algae on 2 month old rock | Advice

Hi There! I accidentally posted on my old account the other day asking for advice on the algae growth on my rock. The tank is 2 months old and I was wondering if I should try and scrub it off, leave it, or if anyone had any advice on what to get to take care of it. It looks pretty thick and spreads pretty fast.

Leave it it’s a good sign that the tank is maturing and being cycled

it will keep on growing and getting greener. Its time for snails and other algae eating inverts, not too many, but add them as the algae increases. Phosphate is what feeds algae, so start learning about phosphate sources and phosphate control, get a good phosphate test, basically become a phosphate expert like the rest of us. Controlling phosphate and nitrate and clean up crew is the way to control algae. But your tank will go through several months of algae spurts, so be patient and understand the process.

It’s normal but you can help prevent/reduce some of it by lowering your lighting intensity, getting a clean up crew of snails or pods, and not running your lights for an extremely long period of time.
