Green algae on rock?? Is this going to be a problem??

Hi all so my tank is about 8months old and I have noticed the green algae in just 1 area of my tank and it is also on my coral? Is this the start of a problem? Any advice what to do? Ty

You may want to try to scrub/siphon remove as much of it as you can before it does really take hold and spread. If you search on R2R there are quite a few methods of tackling various types of algae growth. You can also try some cleanup crew (urchins like algae in particular).

What about vibrant?

No to vibrant. Unless you want more serious problems. Does it blow off. If it does green cyano. Or looks like GHA. Hard to tell in picture. But many better ways to deal with then going chemical warefare. Especially this early

You got a reef tank, congrats!
My rocks are green, pink, purple, red, brown, ect, you get the idea.
Could be a film algae, no big deal. I would not worry unless it starts choking out that clove.

10ppm is fine. If you have soft corals and/or LPS, 10 is almost on the low side.
The reality is, the conditions that grow most photosynthetic coral are also ideal for algae.

As was mentioned above, a proper cuc is an important element in keeping algae in check.

I have turbos nassirus and trochus but only hand full of Crabs. Plus 5 fish a foxface goby beauty angelfish n 2 clowns . What else to add? It's 130 gal tank

Elbow grease and increase CUC.

Avoid chemicals and algaecides like Vibrant

Doesn’t seem to be a problem especially if you plan to add more corals. They will help uptake the nitrate and phosphate. How is your phosphate level? The green turf algae actually looks nice in small quantities IMO. If it starts to take over corals you can try lowering nitrate and phosphate and/or increasing your CUC as mentioned. Don’t do what I did and lower nutrients to the point dinos and other low nutrient thriving pests take over…just because you had a little bit of algae. Some algae is a sign of a healthy system.

Really sounds like you are doing great. Just suck out that little bit. You are going to get algae. Which is natural and good like mentioned above just manual removal for now

Understand that bottled solutions have their place in the hobby, but it is always best to identify the underlying cause and correct the problem there.

Please post a full tank shot so we can see your setup in its entirety. This will help in making an assessment.

Also, please provide Nitrate and Phosphate numbers.
