Green algae...what’s happening?

I expect that's true, Randy. I just couldn't keep up with it. I think at the time I was experiencing release of phosphates from rockwork in the tank. Even though the phosphate levels were never alarmingly high by any test method I could find, I expect that there was just too much of it constantly being released into the water column.

For the first time I'm using cheato and it's working very well for me. In fact, I had to reduce my fuge light time period as it stripped my phosphates down to .01. It's currently back at .04. Now if I could grown only cheato in my fuge. A slimy brown hair type algae has been growing over it. Contemplating tearing my fuge down and starting it over lol!.

Haha. OK, so .4 seems really high then. How do I get it down?

My phos was about what yours is , I had trouble getting it down until I used Phosphate RX

I should add That my Phos has been holding at undetectable using an api test for a couple months

That's certainly likely.

A member here showed that with 0.16 ppm phosphate in the water (1 gallon), there could be 57 ppm of phosphate on 1 pound of rock
