Green algae

Hello everybody I have a problem I put a new set of Lights on my 55 gallon and now I'm growing green algae like hair and it's really thick can anybody help

I had started getting it after my new light things I found were test the water for high levels of nitrates and phosphates water change as needed, cut down the lighting if on longer than 8 hours, get turbo snails, and manually remove it

Okay I have 3 turbo snails I will try to get more and see how that goes thanks

What kind of light did you have and what did you switch to? Any parameter numbers?

I have a LED and I switched to a T5 light I may have to change the bulbs

My phosphates are 0.25
Nitrates are 5.0
Ph are 7.8
Nitrites are 0 ppm
Ammonia are 0 ppm to.25

I have had turbo snails as well as blue leg hermits to take care of the thick stuff.

I have a LED and I switched to a T5 light I may have to change the bulbs

its probably responding to the increase in light not the color.
