So I have noticed I am getting some green algae growing in my rock and on the glass. I have my light on a timer and I have cut back the time it is on for. What else could be causing the green?

Look where it prefers to adhere: non pigmented surfaces, ones w no colonizers like coralline to fight primary establishers like algae

Lift the rock out and kill it off the rock, or let it proceed, classic choice

Hand guide it out repeatedly don’t expect that to stop till all the tank looks like the aged live rock portion

If it was param related the whole tank would feature it

Time for new snails.

It’s not the Po4. In a new tank it’s often no3 and trace ammoina actually. The bio filter doesn’t process it that well at first.

And yea , it could be the precursor to corraline algae. It often starts as green stuff you can’t scrape off.

i am starting to get the same thing along with some diatoms.
from what i have read this is a good thing and i should just let it run its course.
is that correct?
