Hi everyone,

I am starting to grow some algae on the side of my glass. No hair algae or anything like that, but just the green tint is slowly starting to form on my glass. I have about 15 snails and two hermit crabs in my tank. I don’t currently have a scraper, but should I invest one? And what else can I do to prevent this from happening even more! Thanks for the input! Really appreciate itI have a 46 gallon tank. I am still slowly on buying more snails. If you’re suggestions snails what type of snails as well thanks!

Totally normal to get film algae on the glass. I'm a big fan of the flipped but there are many options out there. I just use the blade side and not the pad to try and avoid scratches

Tunze makes a good scraper and one that doesn't trap sand grains against glass saving a lot of scratches.

Magnet cleaners are a good thing. No scraping required.. Just a wiping motion does the trick. Green is good. Shows the tank is starting to mature. Soon it will be teaming with life. Green Brown Red ect...

Once it gets to that stage of the tank? What should I do? To keep it in good shape? Any suggestions! I will go ahead and order a scraper. Any suggestions on scrapers from Amazon? If so can you give me the link! Thanks!!

I would get a magnetic cleaner like the flipper. No need to use the scrapper part for anything for a while. Just run the pad over the glass and it will be clean.
