GREEN ALGEA ID? FIXES?

Ok, every other day then? Idk, i think you're giving this algae (whatever it is) too much time to fortify before you attack it again. Even with methods suggested often on this board like carbon dosing I think the FIRST step is to remove as much of the enemy as possible then perhaps those methods work better/in conjunction with... just my .02. Ill be following...

Wow. I tell you what you reef looks great, so there's that. At this point you have tried a ton of variables and nothing has worked. Take an inventory.... less red and white in your spectrum, shorter photoperiod more flow, solid clean up crew.... what is left to try? Chemiclean works but it is a scary proposition. Tough choice. Add to your good bacteria population with microbacter 7, dose nitrates get them up over 15. (There was an article here showcasing some of the reef masters and they all run their tanks over 20 ppm nitrates.) Try to get that refugium going again. Add a small all in one UV like the green killing machine

Out of curiosity, have you done an ICP test.. I did and all was good and still I struggle just like you...

Yulp ICP came back all good. Still struggle... what lights you running? I have 2 a360x ru ning 100% inesity....thinking about just going to radions

Thanks.. ya source watter is all good. I have 0 red and I belive 20%white. You think my low nutrients is because of the GSP? I have alooot growing on the back glass. Only running sock/skimmer and no matter how much I feed it always slowly drops and then I have to dose it back up.

Currently running AI HYdras 2x32s over a RSR 350. I am set up for T5s as well but don't run them. Very little greens or reds and no whites at all. 8-9 hr photoperiod.

I don't know how effective the zooxanthallae inhabiting the GSP are at removing nitrates. We always hear softies thrive in high nitrates but I don't know for sure about consumption. My ricordea get huge and fluffy when my nitrates are over 20 ppm, and not so much when below. Maybe someone can chime in. I just read that Tridacna clams can and do use all forms of nitrogen sources, from urea through nitrate. Regardless maybe try dosing nitrates and see how it goes. Brightwell neonitro is cheap and easy to find. One capful in my 30 raised my nitrates 10 ppm. That's well above what the bottle claimed it would BTW.

Update:

Haven't had a chance to siphon this past weeknd... sand is looking way worse... still exact same parameters. Although Nitrate has dropped from 5 to 3. Could just be test error. Attached photos with whites on full.

Added 20 something cerith snails and 2 more conches...in past 2 weeks or so. They want nothing to do with it.

All my parameters are rock solid and are on page 1.

I decided to give Chemiclean a try yesterday. It’s working. Not only is the algae dying and turning brown but my urchins have finally started cleaning rocks. It’s something they weren’t capable of doing till today.
