Green banded goby swollen abdomen

One of the two green banded gobies I have is showing a distended abdomen.

To me it looks like a blockage of some type, but is there an off chance it could be swollen with roe? In the video you can see one of the pairs, which I'm assuming has turned male, exhibiting what appears to be a mating behavior. I don't know enough about these gobies to know if I have a problem or not. Towards the last 10 seconds of the video you can see a pretty clear view of her belly.

This could be a few different things...

One just constipation or bloating (Usually self fixes). You can mix a small amount of kanaplex into food if its eating to try and try to help expel it.

If it doesn't go away in a couple days you may need to treat the fish with antibiotics. As it could be an internal bacterial infection.

If it is constipation, you could dose with "plain" Epsom Salts. It's a natural laxative. I tablespoon per 5 gallons of tank water.

He certainly is trying to get her underneath that coral ... she may just leave that load affixed to the ceiling under there.

Hey Bruce - thanks for replying. It's been fun to watch him do his best; I'm reminded of a nice looking gal sitting alone at the bar and a persistent guy that refuses to give up.

If I see that she loses her girth I'll have to take a peak at that monti. It's not connected to anything so it will be easy to see.

These were both going to be my suggestions. If you can get the fish to eat a split pea it can help with constipation as well.

Is there a technique to this? It's so small it would have to be pureed. Mix it somehow with regular food? Feed it soup?

Hmm I imagine a purée smoothie would be at least somewhat helpful. I kid my frozen foods, microwave, drain/strain, then add vitamins I assume you could add a pea or two to the mix!

@Humblefish, your thoughts on that?
