I have a green birdsnest bout about 4 weeks ago. Colored up nice then. Its bleaching at its base. But 3/4 is still all colored nice. I fought red slime algea amd beat it early. Knocked my lights down to 10 percent white and 50 percent blue. Well I ramped up the lightin when I noticed that. To 3 hrs of white at 20% and blues ramped it from 50 to 75% I think it was a bad idea:/
I took the whites down to 15% for 4 hours a day my whites run for 8 hrs ramping up and back down to 0
Am I goin in the right direction? I also moved it to a frag rack.
Ill post a picture of it tommaro any imput will be appreciated !!

Thanks Bryan

Could be STN, [HASHTAG]#reefsquad[/HASHTAG] might know more. Also you could always try dipping it

Can you tell us more about your setup and whether you have other SPS and how they are doing?

I would definitely look into your water parameters before making more adjustments.Every time you change the placement or lighting the coral will need to adapt.I would dip to check for parasites, cut off the dead base and re-mount the pieces.

This happened to me once. I had a hyacinth birdsnest and it was bleaching from bottom and I was scared and I fragged few of its branches and left it alone and reduced my light cycle. Did you change your bulbs or anything? Gladly all of it's frags survived and even the original bleached coral survived and grew fine until recently my tank crashed when I moved into a new apartment. If you could invest in a phosphate reactor it would be nice. I bought one for about $60 when there was a sale and also what kind of salt do you use? When I changed from using instant ocean regular salt to reef crystals my corals grew faster! Here are few pics.

My lighting is a coral composion 120p
We use reef crystals for all 3 tanks in my dads house.
My bother hasn't tested my water in my tank for probably a month... calc was down. Ph was a 7.8 mag was down... so that should help fix that problem

Go figure I scratch his back on working on building his car and he doesn't check my tank...
Im learning to test my tank myself so I dont lose any corals.

Yea im testing it now I keep a close eye . On my corals and fish to make sure none go missing but my big clam hasn't been opening up since last Thursday thats when I knew there was something wrong.
Im a big dummy but im learning.

My ORA green birdsnest started off really beautifully green and now it is very light teal. Maybe too much light?

I have a green birdnest that has a purple protrusion growing out of the top. It is about 3/8 of an inch in height. Can anyone tell me what this is? It showed up over night.
