Brand New member. Actually just joined tonight. And now ironically it seems I am in a bit of a panic.... I had glanced in on my fish and noticed something wiggling in the back. I quickly realized it was 2 tips of 2 different legs from my starfish. I can't figure out why this would happen. I have one tomato clownfish, 2 hermit crabs, and a snail. I have not read or seen anything to believe it would just detach for no apparent reason. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much

I had a serpent star lose a leg once. I'm not sure why. I thought he was dying but the leg grew back and he has been around for 9 years since then. He is the oldest member of my tank.

It doesn't seem to be fazed by it.. I'm just confused as to what/why did it. It is a few years old and good size. I'll stay updated with recovery. Thank you.

Welcome to R2R. I too have had stars loose a leg mysteriously only to eventually grow back.

Welcome! I've had stars lose legs before to grow them back as well. Most I'm not sure why they lost the leg. One, I saw it's leg get stuck in the rock so it let go of the leg and kept on truck'n.

So I got up and looked in and seen another led wiggling around... So I decided to take it apart and see what was going on..... It didn't look like he was stuck. He started to take off and I moved him to the other side of the tank. He stayed there while I moved rocks out and added a few.... However on another note, the clownfish nipped at a rock when I was getting it out and I think he broke his mouth. It's open... I seen him close it a cpl times... Rt now it dsnt look as bad. But it looks a lil crooked.

That was a few hours ago.. fed the clownfish and it seems to be doing ok.. the mouth still hasn't closed all the way but at times is able to close and open it's mouth.... *Stressing*

Okay, still trying to learn this thread stuff and how to ask questions and or leave pictures..

I have a cpl "hermit crabs" and the last few days they've been "Tangled" for a lack of words.. one is bigger than the other.. I have a few pictures but can't figure out how to upload them.
The larger of the two had came out of it's she'll the first night while the other one was (I think) trying to get into the shell.. but since that night the larger of the two has pretty much not let the other out of it's shell. And has a claw inside.. the one "trapped" inside did come out for a minute while they were separated.
But right after that the smaller of the two came after the bigger one and again the big one put the smaller one back in it's shell and they've been like that the last few days.. I can see that the smaller "trapped" one is still alive and wiggling it's mouth and stuff...
Any suggestions to any of my novice questions would be greatly appreciated.

Probably fighting for the house/shell.
