We bought a green bta and a Sebae last wednesday. The Sebae is fat healthy and looks great. The bta is another story.

Water parameters are great and we are running elive lights with 20 pods consisting of whites, full spectrum, actinic, and I think a few VHOs.

I just tried to force feed him some raw table shrimp that I shredded up and used a baster.

Thoughts, ideas?

Do not force feed an anemone. Actually don't be overly concerned about feeding. They do have zooxanthellae and therefore receive energy through this symbiotic relationship. Let it settle in for a month or so and try to give it some small food then.

Ah! I should have listened to my instincts. It laid with its mouth gaping open for a few days after I put it in. I didn't feed it except for the mysis I use to feed the rest of the tank. I was hoping to see some of the mysis stick to the tentacles at some point but it never did. it started to look like it was losing the zooxanthellae since I could see all of its insides nearly clear and that's when I decided to take action.

What should I look for if it starts to die?

An anemone losing color (zooxanthellae) is not a good sign. In looking up the Elive lights (I've never heard of them), they are way under-powered. One watt LEDs have very poor penetration. You don't have sufficient lights to support anemones.

Ah we were mislead! All of the show tanks containing habitats (permanent residents) that are not for sale in our lfs use them. Gah! I thought the wattage was a different scenario when it came to led lights

When an anemone is drooping like that don't try to feed it as it appears to be "dealing" with something else.

How long has it been drooping? Is it's mouth opening with stuff coming out or is the mouth closed? What's the flow in the tank like?

The fact that it's foot is attached is a positive, but that alone doesn't mean it's out of the woods.

Now it is doing this. There are several folds with tetacles between it and the sand. This is so weird

For some reason there are two of the same posts going. HERE's the other one.

Would a Mod please merge these together. Thanks.

Oh wow, good to know! For some reason I cannot post the pictures from my phone. It looks absolutely wild today

keep an eye on it, it looks very stressed... it may split on you. dont force feed it and dont try to force it to host. let it be and see if it rebounds
