Hi guys, quick question, I have a green BTA and lately I've noticed it's been moving away from lighting and just looks sickly. I have a 42 gallon BioCube with stock lighting and my tank is 6 months old. All my water levels are normal and everything else in the tank is fine (emerald crabs, clownfish, lawnmower blenny, brittle star, and hermit crabs). I feed it about 3 times a week. What could be the problem? (the water looks sandy bc I had to move the rock to get a picture of the anemone). Also my clownfish has been weird about hosting even though he has in the past. Thank you!

It's not looking too good. It's pretty bleached and the brown foot/body is a telltale sign of decline in these anemones. There's a small chance it might turn around, but if it declines any further it may be a good idea to remove it before it dies and causes a nutrient spike.

What sort of lighting are you using and how old is your tank?

No offense but your whole tank looks sickly. I think some major cleaning and an upgrade in water movement is in order. Also slow down on the feeding. That sucker is bleached out big time.

I'm using the stock lighting for the new BioCube. My tank is about 6 months old.

Yeah, I've been trying I'm trying to do weekly water changes and the filter was just upgraded.

What are you water parameters? When’s the last time you did a water change? It doesent look like the salinity is right just from the pictures, lol.

It might bounce back if you can figure out what’s causing that fuzzy green algae. That’s what looks a bit suspect to me. In my experience, that fuzzy algae is an indicator to poor water quality & usually from something in the filtration system that has not been tended to. Also the mention of debris floating up from the sand bed when the rock was moved, would indicate that it is time to syphon all that waste out of the sand bed. I would attend to any area that might be trapping excess nutrients in your filtration system. Have you checked if there has been any fluctuations with temperatures, heat will also cause things to bleach. Good luck.

the green algae is hair algae, from what I've heard it's pretty much harmless and from not having anything eating it or taking it out for so long
