Green Carpet Anemone and Sleeper Goby

I recently bought a green carpet anemone and its been doing good. However I notice sand all over it because my sleeper goby drops some on it. The anemone must consume the sand I assume as it is unavoidale. Will this kill my carpet anemone? I've only had the anemone for 2 weeks and that goby is as tough as nails. Are anemones able to process the substrate safely?

The anemone will be fine. I would imagine the sifter will eventually be the carpet anemone's victim. Those things are very effective predators.

Anemones live on the bottom of the ocean, and I would suspect they have a way to tolerate a bit of sand over the hundreds of thousands of years of survival to date. If it is repeatedly getting buried I would be more concerned.

The anemone isn't likely to be eating the sand, though I do agree that it's likely to eat the goby (particularly if its a haddoni).

Carpet anemones will usually shift the sand off of them over time. It’s the same way they pass food into their mouth. If you feed a small piece of shrimp or mysis and it lands on the outer diameter of the anemone, you can watch and the tentacles with slowly bring the food to the mouth. Sand will get brought away from the mouth over time and exit over the edges of the anemone.
