Water was treated for red slime. I was advised to do a water change. I did one then my water got green and cloudy. I’ve done 2 water changes and yesterday I added a filter. Any advice?! It’s been like this for weeks. Water changes helped for a couple days then back cloudy and green. I shortened the feeding routine. What else can I do?!

One word UV two words activated carbon three words big water change that is a green lagoon :/

New to this. What is an airstone?!
It's just a small external pump with clear tubing and a sponge on the end. It creates a ton of tiny bubbles in the water which ripple the surface and help gas exchange. 20 bucks at the pet store. Get a battery operated one to have on hand for emergencies.

Ok... I've had this exact problem.

As has already been mentioned, a UV sterilizer will go a long way in resolving this issue.

Also, water changes using RODI water (not tap) is important.

Turn off your lights for a few days.

What are your phosphate and nitrate test numbers?
