Hi!
So, basically what the title says. I've been battling with cyano for the past few weeks and it's starting to recede but this other algae is not. it feels hard to the touch and it's difficult to scrap (the only way I've found to scrap it is with a metal blade).
I haven't scrapped it in a while because it seems that is outcompeting the cyano but what do you guys think?
Also, I had a small boom of copepods and other micro-life that seems to be pretty happy with this green algae haha.

Thanks :)

I hope so, I could really use some good news with this tank haha

If it's hard yes it's some sort of coralline algae. The more often you scrub the less this stuff gets a chance to take hold and that makes it easier IME.

Great!!! thank you :)
Any idea of why is it green and not the normal red/pink color?

Red/pink are just the most common color in our tanks, it can be found it basically any color of the rainbow in the wild, and many different growth forms. I don't have much pink in my tank but a very slow growing maroon is most dominant.

scrape some off into a bottle and sell it! I bet some people would buy it. It is different from your usual coralline algae and could be a hot item if marketed correctly.
Not a bad idea hahaha

Pretty interesting, thank you!

I have the same kind in my tank as well. It only really appears on the glass and just makes the glass harder to clean...
Since my tank is bare bottom it's also appearing there but if I was going to have some kind of algae in the bottom it's great that is this one haha
