Yes green and yellow but very rare in the hobby. Is there such a thing as green coralline algae? I have pink, purple and dark red....
You’d see little bits of lots of colors on old ocean live rock, like green shades, reds and whites along with the purple and pink we are more familiar with.Is there such a thing as green coralline algae? I have pink, purple and dark red....
Anything I should be concerned with? If so, what should I look out for? It’s green algae alright, not so much of the coralline type
No perfectly normal algae growth. Id be more concerned if you didn’t see it…Anything I should be concerned with? If so, what should I look out for?
Yes but most we see is purples and reds. But there's many different colors. Is there such a thing as green coralline algae? I have pink, purple and dark red....
Yeah, I have been feeding somewhat heavily. I’ll pull back a bit.No perfectly normal algae growth. Id be more concerned if you didn’t see it…
if it starts to get really dark and all over, could be a sign of high nutrients and might want to increase water changes and reduce lighting/feeding. But from the picture I wouldn’t say your at anything but a normal level.
this is the start of ‘ugly phase’ that just comes from using dry rock
If it starts getting heavier consider a turbo/margarita snail or two. They can mow down the algae, but then it’s hard to keep them from starving once it’s goneYeah, I have been feeding somewhat heavily. I’ll pull back a bit.
Thanks for the info
I have a CUC with turbos. They do a good job so this caught my attention. If it starts getting heavier consider a turbo/margarita snail or two. They can mow down the algae, but then it’s hard to keep them from starving once it’s gone
Haven’t tried yet.My coraline algae started out neon green. Can you blow it off the rocks? Is it hard like coraline? If so, it *could* be the beginning of coraline algae taking hold.
It’s been cycled and ran a period of significant brown algae before my CUC cleaned up. Those Candies and GSP have been in over a monthThat rock looks like you just set the system up.
I hope you had a long cycle? You have multiple coral frags including sps in there. Stay on top of all your parameters and keep your fingers crossed,
Going through the ugly stages ( getting bacteria strains fully established) can be very stressful on corals
Tried brushing it off today with my water change but didn’t come off.My coraline algae started out neon green. Can you blow it off the rocks? Is it hard like coraline? If so, it *could* be the beginning of coraline algae taking hold.
