Green cyano outbreak help

Sup guys I have green cyano all over rocks and sand what can I do to fix this.... I blow off rocks weekly and do a 10 gallon water change and clean the sand. Tank is a water box 130 reef..po4 is at 0.02 no3 10....I been doseing po4 to keep them from hiting zero but this seems to make the problem worse..tank is 2 months old...here's a few pictures..tanks

Continue doing as you're doing. Nothing abnormal going on. Uglies will get even worse for a while. If you want to take an extra measure start dosing live phyto. Don't go nuclear and start using miracle in a bottle products.

Are you vacuuming it out during water changes? Use RODI? How's your CuC?

I do try to vacuum it but the vacuum does not suck it out so basically it's just remixing with the sand again

With all of the algae you encounter do the best to remove by hand. Using a toothbrush at the end of your gravel vacuum is a big helper. What size tank and what does your CuC look like?

Cut back lighting, dose microbactor 7 daily, run a uv light if you have one . And I would hold off on water changes for a few weeks. Keep close eye on parameters . I like the dosing of live phytoplankton as one suggested .

I'd get a 75g package or so from reefcleaners.org will add a bunch of diversity to your CuC. I started with the live phyto from algae barn but now make my own. Both will help greatly in the coming months.

Holy bleep! That’s a large and persistent growth. I am sorry that I don’t have a remedy. I had a massive red version of this when I started my aquarium. I just kept vacuuming the stuff. I don’t recall doing anything more then that.

No it’s a different type of bacteria and has never worked in the past for me , also could use a coupe tuxedo urchins

This is normal to encounter during the early stages of your tank. I am usually against using chemicals but Dino X by fauna marin worked for me against green cyano.

Also increase water flow and you might consider a 3-4 day black out period while your dosing outcompeting bacteria as cyano bacteria is photosynthetic . Chemical clean will work but chances are it can come back . You want to naturally support bacteria that outcompetes the cyano . It will take time to get through this so have patience . Nothing good in this hobby comes fast

BRS supply has a video on ridding your tank of cyano that can be helpful . You can overcome this . Don’t get discouraged . It’s part of cycling the tank. It happens to most of us during the first few months , especially if at any time the tank zeroed out on pho’s and nitrates . Seriously go to brssupply.com their are all sorts of good videos there to help
