I have a green film algae in my 15 gallon. Its a pretty new tank, I added 5 snails to try to get rid of it they are helping very little. Whats a good way to get rid of this stuff I am spending a lot of time scrubbing it off just to realize I missed a spot, then later I see it in that same spot.

Thanks,

Luka

Part of the "cycle" process. It will go away/ need scraping less frequently as the tank matures. Just keep your front clean so you have a good view, develop a routine for nutrient export and let your tank find its balance.

Ways to get nitrate and phosphates out of the water. The biggest part is getting a good consistent water change schedule going.

Luka I still have the brown stringy algae issue I guess its a bactera issue I got antibiotics from my fish guy ive had enough about to call it quits if it dont clear out I get a awesome looking tank for a few days then it appears again welcome to reefing I guess as for the green stuff do as naiad said n hope for the best im about to sell the reef stuff n go back to breeding fancy guppies after 14 months of this reef stuff rollercoaster ride and 2 grand later my corals look good n spawn new heads but algae will n always b a problem here n there no matter wat

Hmm @mr fixit sorry to hear that :( Its true it really hurts the wallet. I don't even want to talk about how much put into my small 15 gallon and it isn't even a mature tank. Best thing you could do is your research and make the best purchases and really pay attention and put work forward. This is my first tank and I have ran into countless problems already. I use this site for my algae problems https://www.reefcleaners.org/nuisance-algae-id-guide then I usually post a thread about it to see if some other reefers have any ideas and to possibly help future ones. But if you haven't take a look at that site. But it could be worse all your corals could explode...I would say what you told me don't give up. If your going FW keep me posted.

Okay so the green film algae seems to be turning brown now? IS that a good thing? I just got back home from school today and some/most of it was brown still a little bit of green.
