Fighting this horror, sta4ted just last wekk now covering rocks etc. Question my tank is small ( red sea 130) , if i take out my rock piece by piece to clean off the algae wouldi kill offany beneficial nitrifying bacteria?

I would be as quick as possible with the rock out of water. I returned to the hobby a few months ago by purchasing someone’s established tank that was getting out of the hobby. Decided to aquascape and the 2.5 hours the rock was out of water caused a mini-cycle.

I’m also working to rid some GHA. Was mostly contained to one rock. Got tired of removing it with needle noses and tweezers twice a week so started treating with peroxide. There is a long running thread about it here, I personally feel like I can’t comment on it yet as I’m not finished. I have two cemented structures and was unable to remove.

Regardless as you remove you’ll want to fix the reason for the algea to begin with simultaneously or it will most likely return

Also if it gets on coral is there annyway to clean the coral? Using nopox and put phosguard in a bag in sump phosphates and nitrates were high from overfeeding and probably overuse of reef roids[emoji849]

Yes im d9sing nopx done water changes but i think main reason washigh nitrates annd phosphates due to over feed ing i know how stupid i am for that lol. Addressing it but its a nightmare in space of 1 week.

Def get a positive ID. Bryopsis is often mis IDed as gha.

Yes you can scrub it , I use peroxide in some tank water , rinse well and put it back in.
