Have a 13.5G EVO Nano Tank running good for the past year and now I cant control the Green Hair Algae. I took all livestock out except for corals and do not feed the tank. I do have a few clean up crews (snails, hermits).

Ive removed and strubbed the rocks of the GHA and its been 2 weeks and their all coming back.

Light source is a Kessil A150W and turned it down to run 5 hrs a day.

I also tried Reeflux with no results. Whats the best way to get rid of the GHA in a nano tank? Is there a critter that can eat all these up?

Its probably using nutrients, something like phosphate as a food source so you could try starving it out.

In a nano you could try a series of water changes and pick out as much if the GHA as you can and then keep up with regular small water changes

I too am fighting this battle. I did a massive water change and tested afterwards and got 0 nitrate. I suspect phosphate and will be testing for that this evening.

You can DIY yourself an algae scrubber really easily. I was battling GHA for a while until making one myself. Honestly i think it’s one of the best nutrient export methods due to how successful it was

Whats the #1 cause for high Phosphates? Ive tried PHOS removers before.. do you think this will work?
