Hi all,

I have a 10 gallon aquarium and a 29 gallon aquarium, soon to set up a 90 gallon aquarium. My problem is my 10 gallon aquarium. It crashed on me a couple of weeks ago from bad advice from my LFS and now the tank is in the state where it is getting back to where the water parameters used to be before I added too much Seachem part 1 and part 2. I took 3/4 of the water out and added new RO water as all my coral died and so did my only clown fish so the only thing left in the tank is a few snails. Anyhow, I have been adding water for top offs from my 29 gallon aquarium, which is full of Xenia, and is doing fine. My problem is that Saturday morning I topped it of with aquarium water and cleaned the glass and this afternoon the glass was covered with green hair algae again. What might be going on? Could it be the light? I checked the RO water to see if my filters were bad and the water is fine so I have no clue what is going on.

What are your parameters? We have to assume that nutrients are relatively high, likely higher than what is showing on the test kits as the nutrients are being taken up by the algae. There is no simple fix for this but you need to test your make-up water as well. This is a good starting point for more info to be provided. since all is "dead", a reboot may be in order...
