My tank has been up for a couple of months. I have a clownfish and some clean up crew in there. I just notice I am just starting to get some green hair algae. Is this a bad sign? What can I do to prevent this. My tank is a 46 gallon and I have about 13 snails and two hermit crabs. What should I do to keep this from continuing to take over my tank?

I have heard good things about vibrant. I know a few local reefers that have started dosing as soon as they saw it with good results.

I however have a lot of it and am in my 3rd week of dosing.

Also are you running any kinda GFO?

Thanks for this information! I do not! I am going to have to look into that stuff! Thank you.

A blenney or some sort of algae eating fish would always help combat it. Best way to keep it from spreading is removing the rock with the algae and physically removing it. Some suggest using a tooth brush and hydrogen peroxide and brushing the rock with it then dipping it in water. I’d suggest using your water from your water change to dip it when finished. The peroxide method is for killing algae on coral frags I don’t see why it can’t be used on live rock.
Bulk reef supply has a good YouTube video on dosing Vibrant and having good results

A normal thing in every new tank.
Keep nutrients in check.
Nitrate in the 2-5ppm range
Phosphate in the 0.03- .2 ppm range,

You can’t skip the ugly stages using Vibrant.
