the coral has only open twice in 7 0r 8 days.
any help would be great.

What does it look like right now, do you have a picture. Leathers can close because they don't like the flow or lights, they can also close because they are shedding. If it is shedding it will almost have a shiny look to it.

I had a toadstool open up the first 2 days after being in my tank and then close up for 2 months. It just recently opened up again a few days ago. I brushed it with a toothbrush and that seemed to help it shed. It was a thick crusty layer not like what my other toadstool produces. It's now bigger and is open every day. It might not be a bad idea to leave it alone for a little while.

here it is

I recently bought two leathers. The only time mine didn't want to open up was when I had them in a area of flow that was too high. Is it in a high flow area maybe?

no flow is medium. I had it up higher in my tank then moved it lower. the flow was higher before.

it was closed so long that algae grew on it. then my coral beauty picked at it.
